The Artist, June McIntyre
June McIntyre studied art at Winchester College of Art and Design and gained an honours degree in education before teaching art and creative studies for twenty years. When her husband took early retirement twelve years ago they moved back to Ireland and now live between the mountains and the ocean west of Dingle next parish Boston. Originally specializing in botanical drawings and paintings she became influenced by the work of Caffe Fassett and began to develop involved still life paintings incorporating highly decorative pottery and fabrics. A need for ever more subjects to paint she began to make her own papier maché pots which became an art form in their own right. On moving to Ireland a preoccupation with the amazing variation of light on the countryside prompted her to experiment with different media eventually settling on silk painting which naturally lends itself to the transient quality of the weather. Her varied styles can be seen in a year round ongoing exhibition at Dingle Artworks.

Come Visit Us!

This small thriving gallery is in a central position in the main street of Dingle town. Dingle is a colourful little fishing port in the West Kerry Gaeltacht situated at the most westerly point in Europe. In recent years Dingle has become a popular tourist venue due to the many top class restaurants and bars with live music all the year round. The surrounding countryside is spectacularly beautiful with rugged rock strewn mountains and deep purple lakes. The Atlantic ocean washes the shores and long sandy beaches compete with the many ancient monuments and historical sites for the tourist’s attention.
